We want to thank all the parents for their consistent communication with us at the daycare.

We are working together to keep everyone at our daycare happy and safe.

As many of you saw today we have our Christmas tree at the front entrance.
The children and teachers will be making decorations for our beautiful tree.

They have already been having fun in their groups decorating their rooms. We do realize we started early this year, but we all needed something to keep spirits up.

We will try our best to take some pictures and have them on the TV (at the screening area) for your viewing.

Teachers are trying their best to touch base with you at least once a week, either in person or by a phone call.

Christmas Traditions   

It has been our tradition to host an International Buffet every year on the same day that Santa visits our Daycare and visit with the children.

Traditionally we ask that each family bring in something that represents their own culture. Children enjoy feeling that they have contributed to their buffet that they participate in.

We at the centre traditionally provide the Turkey dinner and the families would bring in a side dish or dessert.

As we face these pandemic times we have been struggling with how to celebrate safely and yet make families feel that they are a part of the event.

We have come up with an idea that would require your participation:
If all families could provide a recipe that is culturally theirs, we would then try and put it together for families to share.

If the recipe is one that is child friendly we may even be able to try it out at the daycare for all children to taste.

This is a new idea and would need your participation. Please make sure that all recipes are in by December 9^th 2020

On December 24^th we will be celebrating Christmas here at the daycare.

We will have our Turkey lunch and Santa will have dropped off the children their gifts ahead of time as he is very busy this year.

Holiday time is a busy and pleasant time to spend with family and friends. If you have made plans to spend time at home with your children, please inform us ahead of time allowing us to do the same for our staff.

Holiday Closures

To All our Parents:

We know the weather is changing and children  will get a cold (runny nose, sneezing). It is very difficult navigating day to day routines during these colder months and our COVID protocols.

We are committed in providing a safe environment for the children we have in our care. As you all are aware daycare is for healthy children and they must be able to participate in all activities at the center, (including going outside).

In the past we have been able to accommodate parental wishes if they did not want their children to go outside. But during these time we unfortunately cannot accommodate your request as the children are not allowed to join any other cohorts (groups), therefore your child’s class would not be able to go outside.

We know that going outside daily is an important part of our program, especially during these times.

Therefore moving forward if your child is not well enough to participate in all aspects of the program please keep them home until they are able to do so.

We do understand that parents do need to work but we are all  working together for the benefit  of all.

Please remember to notify us when your child will be absent and we would need to know the reason why.

Thank you for your understanding

As we mentioned in the previous post, the weather is changing and it is very important that the children are dressed for the fluctuation weather. We do go outside daily and they do need the fresh air. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately everyday for outside time.

Halloween time

Thank you for all your suggestions.
We have decided to do a modified Halloween at the centre. We will accept children coming in costume and we will have a small  makeshift party in each classroom. The children will have a small parade to show off their costumes but still stay with their own groups.

We will provide all the treats (this year we will not accept treats from home).

We understand that this is a fun time for the children and we will try our best to make it special for them as trick or treating will be different for them this year.

Costumes

We ask that they are not very elaborate as they will need help to remove them during routine times (washroom, sleep, lunch).
Please make sure they have a change of clothes at the daycare and everything is labelled.

We do realize that it is very hard for parents not to come past the screening area but we do want to assure you that the kids are busy in their classrooms. As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact.

We have been open since August 4^th and we want to thank all our parents and staff for making this transition a safe one.

You may have heard, there were some changes to the guidelines in the screening process.

We have decided to continue doing an in person daily screening of our children, staff and essential visitors.  We have some new children that take a bit more time during drop time as we need to collect more information to make their child’s transitions easier.  So  your patience is appreciated as wait outside.

If you are in a rush at pick up time,  you  may call 10 minutes before you arrive and we will try our best to have your child ready. Please understand that the children have more things to put on as they come out to  you.

If you do not see anyone at the front door, we have installed a door bell to let us know that someone is there.

We want to wish everyone a  Happy Thanksgiving and a safe long-week end. We will be closed on Monday October 12^th.

Please remember that your choices on the week-end will impact the whole daycare, so stay safe.

Halloween is at the end of the month and traditionally it is a great fun filled celebration for the children at our centre. We typically have the children trick or treat in costume room to room and have the children do a small parade down our hallway.

We are still deciding as a staff how we can continue our tradition and still keep everyone safe. If you have any suggestions please reach out. We will let you know in the next week what our final plans are.

Reminders and Notes:

1. The weather is getting cooler and we ask that your child is dressed for outside conditions everyday.
2. As it is getting colder and wetter it is a good opportunity to get boots (rain or winter) slip on ones for outside, and slush pants.
3. As always if you have any questions or just wish to speak to your child’s teacher please call the daycare between 10am and 3pm and we will try to accommodate you.

Hello everyone

We are halfway through August and we want to thank all the parents for the their patience as we navigate through this process.

We feel that the children are doing much better than expected with all the routine times.

To all the parents that had differed their readmission to September, this is the time to get in touch with us at the daycare.

You must confirm with us if you are coming back and when.This process will help us plan for the coming months.

Dear Parents.

We completed our first week back from a long break (if that is what we can call it). It was such a pleasure to see  our kids and parents.

After anticipating many different scenarios of what the first week would be like, I feel that we as a staff with the support and understanding of all our parents had a GREAT WEEK.

To all the parents that had worked, struggled and enjoyed   their kids over these few months, your efforts were noticed at daycare.

Your children responded well to the physical distancing that was expected.
We learned how to communicate with each other, even with the masks on.
We were able to stay in our cohorts, even though it was very difficult.

We learned how to transition within the school with our own cohorts safely.
We were able to use our playgrounds and enjoy the fresh air.

We want to remind all parents that we are following all of the policies and procedures that are posted on our website. If you have not yet looked at it, please make sure you do so..

Some notes to remember

1. The 4 spots in the front of the daycare that are marked with Pylons are reserved for Arpi Nursery School, feel free to use them.

2. We ask that you wait on the side walk during drop off and pick  up times.(remember social distancing also applies to adults).

3. Please remember our revised times of operation 7:30am- 5:30pm.

As always feel free to call anytime if you wish to speak to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.

As you know we are re- opening today, on August 4th. The following are a list of notes to keep in mind:

1. School Hours: Opening at 7:30 am and closing at 5:30pm sharp.

We have been closed since mid-March and we need to remember that this will be difficult for your children to resume a routine.

As parents will not be allowed past the screening area, children will have a difficult time separating from their parents. You are welcome to phone and check in.

2. We would also like to ask that if your schedule allows, it would be helpful for everyone  (especially your child) to make it a shorter day for the first couple of days. This will make the transition a bit easier.

3. You must bring indoor shoes, sunscreen (preferable spray), and sunhat.

4. No food allowed (excluding infants)

5. We are sending  you pictures of   the staff with/without masks. Please show your children these pictures as it will help with the transition.

6. Make sure you have read all the policies that were provided on our website.

(screen at home, no Tylenol, call if you will be absent)

4. Finally, we want to remind parents that this process is new for all of us and we are/and will continue to be working through perceived challenges.

The screening will take anywhere from 5  minutes to 10 minutes.

There may be a line outside the daycare, please respect the physical  distancing expectations. Bring your patience along.

It is important to stick to the times that you have stated you will arrive and pick up.

If you would like to change them please let us know one day ahead, as we need to provide appropriate staffing.

Note: Please  ensure you are adhering to our 5:30 pick up time as we need to utilize the extra time to properly disinfect the centre. This is to ensure the safety of all children and staff.

Hello to all our Parents, Guardians and Caregivers:

As you know, we have been closed since mid-March when the Province declared a state of emergency due to COVID-19 which included closing down of all childcare centres. In mid-June, childcare centres where given the “green-light” to reopen.

As there is much to do in preparation to reopen, we are working towards a current projected reopening date of July 6th 2020. Please note, this may change as various regulatory approvals are needed to be in place before we open our doors.

The Province released a set of guidelines that childcare operators must adhere to in order to reopen safely. We at Arpi Nursery School have been working to update and revise our policy and procedures for reopening to meet the new guidelines. We are dedicated to protecting the health  and safety of your children, our staff and partners in the community.
One of the new requirements in the guidelines include limiting class sizes, which will reduce the overall number of spaces we currently will have available.

All groups will be a cohort of 10 which will include teachers. In other words, classroom sizes will be limited to 10 people including children and staff.

We will try our best to accommodate as many families as possible by following a prioritization guide, which has been provided to us.
We have reached out to all parents in the last coupe of days. If we have not connected, we ask that you reach out to us. We will be at the daycare Thursday and Friday between 9:30 am-4:00pm. For your convenience, our number is 416-781-1620.

I would like to remind all parents to come by and pick up  any belongings that you may have left at the daycare as there will be a deep cleaning done in the next couple of days. Specifically, there are a number of shoes belonging to School-age/FDK children.

Before opening our door we will be sharing our updated policies relating to COVID-19, intended to ensure the health and safety to all.
We will be letting you know the enrolment status of your child(ren) by Friday. All parents not provided with an enrolled space on July 6th. will be put on a wait list.
